Description

Purpose and goal: The aim and objective for the project is to develop a sustainable cellulose-based material that can replace today´s EPS and where a reduction of fossil-based resources by at least 95% in the starting material is a goal. The new material will be identified as a paper product and thereby also recycled in the fiber value chain. The project contributes to a more sustainable industrial development, an increased value added of biomass and the saving of the earth´s finite fossil resources. Expected results and effects: The project will create the conditions for an enormous potential to phase out the fossil-based EPS material and replace it with the new material that can be recycled in the existing fiber value chain. Innovation contributes to reducing emissions / waste of oil-based plastics and degraded microplastics to our ecosystem with an improved marine environment as a result, as well as a total reduced climate impact both nationally and globally. Approach and implementation: The project is divided into a number of steps that require different skills, focus and control mechanisms.
